The Reserve Force Decoration (RFD) is
a historic Australian military award presented to officers of the Australian Defence Force Reserves for 15 years of efficient service. Instituted in April 1982, it remains the only long-service award in the Australian honours system that entitles the recipient to use a post-nominal (RFD).

Eligibility: Officers who completed 15 years of efficient remunerated service in the Reserve Forces (including up to 3 years in the Regular Forces) between February 1975 and April 1999. [1]

Medal: An oval cupro-nickel piece featuring a gilt wreath of wattle and the Defence Joint Service emblem on a rayed background, inscribed with "For Efficient Service in the Reserve Forces" on the reverse. [1, 2]
